Another moderation drama within the woolly mammoth, people complaining about the weaknesses of _that part_ of the fediverse. Once again total ignorance of _this part_.

@Der Pepe (Hubzilla) ⁂ ⚝ ive not had very much luck disclosing my life on the internet. The same could be said from internet to person. Or as my digital identity and somebody in person. There arent respect for being me. What somebody said, the quote from the bible lay up for yourselves not earthly treasures where moth and thieves can steal and rust can erode. I dont know the direct quote. I may have started the roleplay that spawned the guardians of the galaxy and the roleplay was about me. I dont know what more to say than that.

Yes, the nomadic identity that now exists with Hubzilla, (streams) and Forte (and in the case of Hubzilla, has existed for a very, very long time) would really solve one aspect of the points discussed in FR114.

In one of those threads, one Mastodon user (admin?) even said that Mastodon does not have the necessary features to effectively moderate content.

What was ‘demanded’ or ‘suggested’ between and in the lines was creepy. The decision for an instance should be made based on the ‘CV’ of the moderators, who should be required to disclose their lives, political and other views so that ‘bad’ moderators can be avoided.

It's not just the invasion of privacy and guilt by association that is an issue. I don't think they realize that what they use against their enemies can also be used against them.

If people, especially moderators and administrators, have to disclose their political beliefs or stances, that would make them a target of whoever opposes them. Their goal seems to be having the left banish or attack anyone on the right, but the right could play the same game and banish or attack anyone on the left. Or, more likely, it will make it easier for racists and anti-trans people to find people, communities, and servers to attack. We already have a problem with that now... let's not make it worse.

Considering how much hate is floating around, I don't think that people should be painting a bullseye on their backs. Not everyone has the mental fortitude to deal with being unjustly attacked. We should not force them to the front lines of a culture conflict by forcing them to reveal their politics or sexuality.
